FAQ
Why should I buy insurance for my watches? Are my watches not covered under my homeowner’s policy?
A typical homeowner’s policy is designed to protect your home and its contents, usually limiting coverage of watches to a maximum amount, typically $5,000 or less. So, if your watch costs more than that, you won’t be able to replace it with a similar item. If you claim a watch loss on your home insurance, it can affect the overall cost of your home insurance because everything is grouped together on one policy. Having a separate valuables policy preserves your home insurance premiums should only your watches be affected.
Is there a deductible on my policy?
No, this is a $0 deductible policy. Adding a deductible is not available.
A watch or jewelry I purchased has recently gone up in value. Does my policy protect against inflation and value increase?
If the market value of a watch covered on your policy has increased before a loss, we’ll pay the market value before the loss – up to 150% of your watch’s insured value. This is subject to the maximum amount of coverage of your watch collection. However, as each watch is unique and values fluctuate over time, we recommend periodically tracking the market value of your watches so that you’re best protected.
What documentation do I need to insure my watches?
You will need photos of each of your watches with a copy of today’s newspaper or something indicating today’s date in the background. For watches valued higher than $100,000, you will also need to submit a purchase invoice or recent appraisal.
How do I file a claim?
If you experience a loss, please email us at insurance@getbezel.com. We recommend taking detailed notes regarding the loss (i.e. date, time, location, and any relevant details). Chubb's claims processing times may vary by claim. Once a claim has been resolved, Chubb provides payment as quickly as possible.
